Bump Stops / Rubber Buffers

AV Industrial Products Ltd is a premium supplier of bump stops, rubber buffers and rubber bump stops. The main purpose of bump stops and rubber buffers is to serve as a cushion, protecting your machinery against impact shocks from external moving components. In addition, conical buffers can be used for both primary and secondary suspension of industrial vehicles and equipment.

  • Male Buffer

    Male Buffers

Male Flat Buffers provide a low cost solution for absorbing Shock and Vibration. They are easy to install, and typically used to reduce the force of an impact from a secondary object. Alternatively they can be used as an elastic element, where the rubber remains in direct contact with a surface. They are manufactured from 1st Grade Natural Rubber which can accommodate high deformation and high stresses. On request, they are also available in High Damped Rubber.

Our Male Buffers are also available with various configurations of additional sizes and metals available on request. The Male Buffers are typically used when it can be easily secured with a thread nut or threaded female fixing. They can additionally be used as machinery feet.

    Advantages:

    Applications include:
    ■ Primary and Secondary suspension for vehicles, bump stops for general Industrial Machinery, Assister springs, Construction and Agricultural Machinery.

  • Conical Buffer

    Conical Buffers

Conical Buffers are ideal for absorbing shock. They provide high levels of deformation under impact force, and a progressive stiffness rate to accommodate varying shock forces, thus giving excellent levels of absorption and protection of machinery and fabrications.

Conical rubber buffers are ideal for cushioning shock loads and providing overload protection such as within suspension systems. The conical buffer applications are varied which include vibratory conveyor systems and door stops.

Industrial Machinery, Assister springs, Construction and Agricultural Machinery.

  • Plate Buffer

    Plate Buffers

Plate buffers provide a Heavy Duty solution for absorbing high levels of shock and impact forces. The large rubber section allows for high levels of deformation, ensuring that the impact energy is dissipated effectively.

The plate rubber buffers with mild steel flange and pre-drilled bolt holes mean they are extremely versatile. A variety of sizes are available for the plate buffer stops, also available with aluminium metals.

    Applications
    ■ Construction Equipment and Vehicles
    ■ Agricultural Vehicles
    ■ Commercial Vehicles
    ■ General Industrial Machinery

  • Square Plate Buffer

    Square Plate Buffers

Square Plate buffers provide a Heavy Duty solution for absorbing high levels of shock and impact forces. The large rubber section allows for high levels of deformation, ensuring that the impact energy is dissipated effectively.

Square Plate Rubber Bump Stops can be used in a wide variety of applications, including Construction, Agricultural, Commercial Vehicle and General Industrial Machinery.

FAQs

What are rubber buffers?

Rubber buffers are components made of rubber designed to absorb impact, prevent damage mitigate vibrations in a number of applications. They are widely popular in sectors such as industrial, manufacturing and construction.

Why are they used in industrial applications?

As with any other application, they are used in industrial projects to protect equipment, reduce noise and enhance safety. How? By providing cushioning and shock absorption.

How do they work?

Rubber bump stops work by absorbing and dissipating energy from impacts or vibrations, converting kinetic energy into heat.

What materials are commonly used to make these parts?

Common materials include natural rubber, synthetic rubber compounds and elastomers with varying hardness levels.

What are the different types of rubber buffers available?

There are many different types, depending on your unique requirements. Some common examples include cylindrical, conical, square, custom-designed, buffer pads and anti-vibration mounts. Some may be used for cushioning and noise reduction whilst others specifically target vibrations in machinery.

How are buffers installed or attached to equipment?

This will depend on the specific design or application. Generally though, are installed or attached to equipment using bolts, screws, adhesive or direct mounting.

What are the benefits?

There are a number of benefits, including protecting equipment, reducing noise and ensuring the longevity of machinery. By implementing buffers, users can minimise wear and vastly improve safety.

Is customisation possible?

Absolutely. Any of our products or services can be tailored to your needs. So whether the size, shape, or hardness needs adjusting, we can accommodate you.

Are there different hardness options available?

Yes! As with any other rubber-based components, hardness is typically measured on the Shore Durometer scale (Shore A 40 to Shore A 80). Those with higher values are made from more durable rubber, whilst those on the lower end of the scale are more flexible. Different impact and vibration requirements dictate the hardness.

How do I choose the right size and shape for my needs?

This will vary, depending on the equipment, load and the required level of impact absorption. If you are unsure, you can always contact us!

Are there specific temperature or environmental considerations?

As with all rubber components, temperature and environmental considerations are essential. Extreme conditions, such as significant heat, can impact the performance of your rubber bump stop. Consult with manufacturers for guidance.

How do I maintain and prolong the lifespan of my buffers?

Maintaining any integral part comes down to two things: inspection and replacement. Buyers are encouraged to periodically check for signs of wear and tear. If this occurs, the part should be replaced to ensure consistent performance and safety.

Can they be used for vibration isolation?

Yes! They achieve this by reducing the transmission of vibrations from machinery to surrounding structures. This effectively reduces noise and can significantly extend the life of critical machinery.

Are there weight limits to consider?

When trying to determine the accurate load-bearing capacity of your buffers, it is important to speak to an expert. This is because weight limits will vary depending on the specific application.

How much does a part like this cost?

Costs largely vary, depending on factors such as size, material and whether any customisation is required. Because of this, it is always best to contact us directly. Sometimes we have specialised application requests that require quoting.

Are there any safety considerations when using rubber buffers?

Yes. As with any similar part, safety considerations include maintenance, replacement and ensuring your part is being used within the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Do rubber bump stops come with warranties or guarantees?

As a general guide, we offer our customers 6 month manufacturers warranty on our products.
